About byron beach bats

Hello everyone, we would like to introduce ourselves and share the story of how Byron Beach Bats / Australian Frescobol developed

We are a family of four living in the beautiful Northern Rivers, Byron Bay NSW. We have two small children who love nothing better then spending time at the beach, catching waves and being in the ocean.

The idea of the bats emerged after the kids’ Nana got sick. Her doctor advised her to increase her daily exercise to help in her recovery. As she also loves the beach and the outdoor lifestyle she bought some cheap bats and began playing regularly at the beach with Pop. When she told us what a fun workout it was we didn’t quite believe it. The next time we were at the beach together the bats came out and we were challenged to a game. To our surprise it really was a workout and it really was fun!

As Max has a background in Exercise, Health and Fitness, he got curious about the health benefits of the game and discovered that it is indeed a great way to increase your daily amount of exercise as it improves your all over cardio, strength, coordination, agility, balance and stamina. But above all it’s so much fun that the actual exercising part becomes almost incidental, which makes it very attractive 🙂

After this discovery we became interested in the idea of creating and making our own Australian Frescobol bats with a Byron Bay theme. Initial research showed us that the only good quality bats available were often overpriced and/or imported from China. We decided to create a brand that was local, high quality, handcrafted and that represented the happy, carefree and funky lifestyle that Byron Bay has to offer. And thus thanks to Nana’s inspiration Byron Beach Bats was born.

Our family is very passionate about the environment, in particular our oceans and we hope that we can also inspire others to help keep our beaches clean. Once you have purchased your Beach Bat set we would love you to use your bag to collect some rubbish from the beach after your awesome workout!
